Groom Wants His Sister as the Maid of Honour

Articles - Wedding Bridal Parties

Having a bridal party attendant of the opposite sex is becoming more and more common these days. A bridesmaid, maid of honour, usher, or best man of the opposite sex is called an ‘honour attendant’.

If you decide that you want to have an honour attendant, you have to make sure the honor attendant is comfortable in their role. You wouldn’t want the special meaning to be lost because it is a role they are not comfortable in. Also, don’t get upset if the special someone doesn’t want to accept the role. An honour attendant is still not as widely popular and many people are used to the custom of having an actual bridesmaids for the bride and ushers for the groom.

There is also a fact to consider that the honour attendant may not be able to fulfill every role that a usher or bridesmaid normally would.  For example, it would not be appropriate for the honour attendant to help the bride get dressed on the wedding day.
